In celebration of their 20th anniversary, Wilco releases What’s Your 20, a compilation album of essential tracks culled from the band’s previously released studio recordings that span from 1994 to 2014. These are the first compilations of Wilco music of any kind. The collection was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Cheryl Pawelski, co-founder of Omnivore Recordings, whose credits include Big Star’s Keep an Eye on the Sky, The Band’s A Musical History and Townes Van Zandt’s Sunshine Boy: The Unheard Studio Sessions and Demos 1971–1972. What’s Your 20 gathers songs from Wilco’s eight studio albums plus two songs from Mermaid Avenue, the collection of Woody Guthrie-penned tunes set to music by Wilco and Billy Bragg.

Sonic Youth’s ninth album Washing Machine is the first record to almost exclusively feature Kim on guitar rather than bass, and contains some of their lengthiest material since “Goo” and “Daydream Nation”, including the epic “The Diamond Sea” which drifts onward for an unprecedented 20 minutes, still the longest track on any SY album (excluding the SYR releases). Incidentally, “The Diamond Sea” would prove to be one of the band’s most popular songs, and it along with SY’s headlining spot on the summer Lollapalooza tour would introduce legions of new fans to their music.

Recorded: November – December, 1981 at Studio Sound Recorders, North Hollywood, California

Yes It’s You Lady is a 1982 album by American singer Smokey Robinson. As 1981’s Being with You it was produced by George Tobin and recorded and mixed at Studio Sound Recorders, North Hollywood, California. It was released on the Motown sub-label Tamla. The album was peaking at #33 in Billboard pop charts, and at #6 on the R&B charts. The two follow-up singles to 1981’s chart success’ “Being with you” were strangely no Robinson compositions: “Tell Me Tomorrow” peaked at #33 Billboard and #3 R&B charts, “Old Fashioned Love” at #60 Billboard and #17 R&B charts. The third and final single, Robinson’s “Yes It’s You Lady” only peaked at #107 Billboard, without entering the R&B charts.

On 7, Seal explores love and all of its implications, idiosyncrasies, and intricacies – subject matter he began to delicately approach as early as 2013, knowing exactly where he wanted to go. “The album concerns the most sung about, most talked about, and most documented emotion-love,” Seal says. “I tried to capture all of the wonderfully different dynamics of love, whether it’s the anger, the acceptance, the bliss, the sadness, the elation, or the recklessness. It’s this emotion and the ways it makes us feel. It’s about the extreme joy and the extreme regret as well as all of the crazy things love makes us do.”
