Rachel Laven – Love & Luccheses (2016) [Web FLAC]

Year: 2016

Rachel Laven is a woman now.

Thats the takeaway from her new solo album, Love & Luccheses, a country-folk effort co-produced with musician Sean Sankey.

Her grandmothers boots, which inspired the title track, are the least of it. The talented, introspective 24-year-old singer-songwriters grown-up lyrics reveal shes not peddling puppy love and crushes or interested, she said, in being the pretty girl with the guitar.

Its a statement of where Im at right now, Laven said. A lot of those songs flowed out quickly. It was freeing for me.

For those who cling to an image of her as the sweet, cherub-cheeked girl singing on weekends at The Cove with the Lavens family band, its time to let it go.

She certainly has.

Lavens love life is the focus of her sophomore album. She shares intimate bedroom moments in Only Thing Familiar Is You, jumps into the back seat in Finish Line and dares to put her frisky heart in mortal danger in the rollicking Do You Dare.
